Indian thrower Vikas Gowda has been getting in the perfect preparation for a big season ahead. The 30 year old, who was born in Mysore, India, but grew up in Frederick, Maryland has been basing his training at the center in Phoenix under the guidance of John Godina.
‘The World Athletics Center has been great for me. I couldn’t imagine a better place to train.’ Said Vikas.
‘John’s knowledge and expertise has taken me to the next level. My main focus for this season is the World Championships.’
Gowda finished eighth in the discus at the London 2012 Olympics and was US NCAA National Champion in 2006. His personal best discus throw is 66.28 meters, an Indian national record achieved in April of last year. His shot put personal record stands at 19.62 meters.
